Concrete

Pour and Set

Concrete comes in many shapes and forms, though the most common applications are stamped and brushed concrete. Stamped concrete consists of colors, patterns and sealant with brushed concrete being your typical grey concrete, which is then literally “brushed” with a broom to add texture and design. Regardless of which you choose, both include the same basic components with applications such as patios, walkways, retaining walls, stairs, driveways, garbage pads and more.

Fun Fact: many people refer to concrete as being cement, however, cement is the binding agent in the aggregate that hardens the mixture into concrete. The more you know!

Stamped Concrete

Stamped concrete includes an array of colors and patterns, which there are charts to select from to help with your landscape project. Please view the color chart here to help spark up some ideas.

Stamped concrete has the same application as brushed concrete, however there are powder dyes that are applied to the concrete in the concrete truck, prior to pouring. This color is applied in smaller or larger doses to get a lighter or darker color, depending on what pigment you want. You can even apply two colors to get a more unique color and effect.

Stamped concrete is literally “stamped” with a rubber mat with an array of patterns such as flagstone, cobblestone, pavers, etc. to give the concrete the appearance of being a hardscape paver patio. You can even do two different stamps (e.g., your patio can have a paver stamp with your walkway leading to the patio a flagstone stamp). This provides different textures for a more customized look within your new outdoor living space.

Feel free to contact us, we’d be more than happy to help you with your color and pattern options.

Brushed Concrete

Brushed concrete is the type of concrete that you see on a day-to-day basis as it is the most common type of concrete found throughout both residential and commercial properties.

When the concrete is brushed, it can be brushed in off-set patterns with one section being vertical and the other horizontal to give the concrete a nice design. The brush strokes are also functional as it provides grip during wet and cold conditions (this differs from stamped concrete, which is generally slippery in the same conditions).

Brushed concrete can also be colored, should you want to - it does not have to be grey! Similar to stamped concrete, we can add powdered dyes to the concrete, prior to being poured. You can take it a step further and add sealant as this will protect and prolong the life of the concrete.
